Meeting with School Students in Tbilisi 54th public school
On December 16, 2019, within the frame of project “Keep Georgia Tidy” Mrs. Nona Khelaia, an expert of Nature Explorers Orchis, delivered a presentation “Biodiversity – Importance, Threats, Restoration and Awareness Raising Actions” to school students in Tbilisi 54th public school. The meeting was attended by students of 8th and 9th grades and experts of GSNE Orchis, 42 people in total.
The goal of the Keep Georgia Tidy Project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution of environment by 2023 through environmental sustainable education and promotion circular economy in Georgia, with the specific objective to reduce pollution from municipal waste (40%) and greenhouse gas emissions (10%) in Georgia. The Project plans to promote and implement bio-restoration activities including planting of native tree and shrub species (16 000 seedlings) over 16 ha areas cleaned-up in semi-arid regions of Georgia in order to facilitate to the reduction of desertification process in such regions of the country.
“Keep Georgia Tidy” Project is being implemented by a consortium of NGOs: Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis”, Keep Georgia Tidy and Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia, through financial support of the Government of Sweden.
