Meeting in the Administration of the State Representative-Governor in Kakheti Region, Telavi City
On 2nd December 2021, in the frames of the Keep Georgia Tidy Project funded by the Government of Sweden, Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis” (GSNE “Orchis”) and Swedish Waste Management Association of Five Municipalities Gästrike återvinnare, commonly organized a meeting in the Administration of the State Representative-Governor in Kakheti Region, Telavi City on the development of Municipal Waste Management Plan for Kakheti Region. The meeting was attended by: experts of GSNE “Orchis” Khatuna Chikviladze and Nugzar Buachidze, representatives of the regional administration of Kakheti and municipalities of Kakheti (Telavi, Akhmeta, Kvareli, Gurjaani, Sagarejo, Sighnaghi, Lagodekhi, Dedoplistskaro) that are engaged in the regional waste management planning working group as well as representatives of the legal service of all municipal city halls.
During the meeting, the experts of GSNE “Orchis” and members of the working group finalized the Municipal Waste Management Plan for Kakheti Region and presented it to the legal services of the municipal city halls for the legitimation. The implementation of this plan will facilitate the adoption of modern technologies in the waste management area.
The establishment of a modern waste management system in Kakheti Region is one of the main components of the Keep Georgia Tidy Project, which specifically induces the development of Municipal Waste Management Plan for Kakheti Region based on the requirements of the National Waste Management and Regional Development Strategies, in close collaboration with and active participation of the Regional Administration and 8 municipalities of Kakheti and other relevant stakeholders.
The meeting on the development of Kakheti Regional WMP was organized by GSNE “Orchis”, in the frames of the Keep Georgia Tidy Project funded by the Government of Sweden being implemented by GSNE “Orchis” with the support of Georgian Ministries of Environment Protection & Agriculture, Regional Development & Infrastructure, Education & Science, and Culture & Sport, in cooperation with the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia and Environmental Information & Education Centre.
