“Clean Up Georgia” Project Information on the meetings arranged in Ambrolauri and Oni Municipalities

On December 1 , 201 5 , Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Or ch is” arranged m eeting s  in Oni and Ambrolauri Municipalit ies with the participation of the representatives of  State Solicitor’s – Governor’s Administration in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Regions, Ambrolauri City Council,   Sakrebulo and Gamgeoba  of the mentioned Municipalities, companies of limited liabilities and  others.

The following issues were discussed at the meetings: waste management in Georgia, legal requirements; international obligations in waste management and European experience; waste management planning; assessment of the impact of illegal landfills on the state of adjacent territories and population health. The interest among the participants towards the meetings was keen which once more proves that the demand of the society is to live in clean environment and actively participate in the activities directed at the solution of waste problems.

The project “Clean Up Georgia (Phase III) is being carried out  by a consortium of NGOs consisting of Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis”, Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia and Raising of Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” with the financial support of the Government of Sweden.
