“Clean Up Georgia” Project Information on planting of greenery carried out in Kaspi Municipality
In the framework of the project “Cleanup Georgia” (phase III) Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis” purchased from “Sakartvelos Nergebi”, Ltd. (Georgian plants) 450 roots of coniferous and deciduous plants, including: Pinus eldarica , deodar, cypress, almond-tree and on October 23 planting of greenery action was carried out in Kaspi Municipality. Saplings were planted in the city squares, in the yard of Public school N3, near the churches. Certain amount of almond-trees saplings were given to several families of vulnerable groups. Representatives of Gamgeoba (Administration) and Sakrebulo (Assembly), teachers and schoolchildren participated in the action. The action participants were given the books: Maia Akhalkatsi “Recovery of Forest Habitats in Georgia”, Nugzar Buachidze “ Assessment of the Impact of Illegal Landfills Existing in Georgia on the Ecosystems of the Adjacent Territories”, in the Georgian and English languages and other materials.
Representatives of Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis” inspected the state of the plants planted during the first action of planting of greenery. It turned out that 95% of the saplings are growing. Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis” expresses gratitude to Mr. Nodar Khutsishvili and his collaborators: Ms. Eter Demetrashvili, Mr. Nodar Khinchagashvili, Mr. Gogita Katsiashvili, Mr. Levan Pakalandze for their responsive and honest attitude towards work.
Proceeding from the above mentioned Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis” decided to assist the people of Kaspi to establish a park and forest there.
The project “Clean Up Georgia ” (Phase II I ) is being carried out by a consortium of NGOs consisting of Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis”, Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia and “ Raising of Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” with the financial support of the Government of Sweden.
